Sauk County Public Health Recommendation |
We anticipate that people will continue with the trend of gathering together, as we are currently seeing, and that this will naturally increase with Thanksgiving and run through the New Year's holiday. Groups of people gathering together, from separate households, will only intensify the rising case counts, hospitalizations and deaths that we are seeing in Sauk County, our region, and our state.
The recommendation from Sauk County Public Health, in conjunction with Governor Evers Executive Order #94 which encourages all individuals to stay home as much as possible, is that schools plan ahead now to have virtual school from Monday, November 30 to Friday, January 8 (continuing with holiday breaks as previously scheduled). This time apart from congregating in the school buildings will work as a natural quarantine period to slow the spread of COVID-19 and allow the return to school in 2021. This is our recommendation and not an order, as each school district must make their decision independently as to what their best avenue is to keep their staff and students as safe as possible.
We stress again though, that the most effective way to slow the spread is by staying home whenever possible, wearing a mask when you leave your home, washing your hands, maintaining 6 foot distance, and avoiding ALL gatherings with people outside your immediate household.
Do it for our frontline workers, for our families, and for the vulnerable in our communities. |
